DUOVIR TABLET 60S

Same day

Introduction:

Duovir Tablet 60'S consists of the active ingredient Zidovudine. It is an antiretroviral drug that belongs to a class of Nucleoside Reverse Transcriptase Inhibitor (NRTI) medicines. It is the first antiretroviral agent to be approved to treat HIV-1 infection and is one of the NRTI agents recommended for pregnant women. It is also prescribed to prevent disease in individuals exposed to HIV.

Uses of Duovir Tablet 60'S:

  • Treatment of Human Immunodeficiency Virus in combination with other antiretroviral drugs.
  • Prevention of transmission of the virus from mother to fetus.

How Duovir Tablet 60'S Works:

The reverse transcriptase enzyme is responsible for producing copies of DNA from the HIV’s RNA. This DNA copy of the virus integrates with human DNA. This leads to production of viral regulatory and structural proteins in polyproteins. The viral protease enzyme then splits polyproteins and causes viral particles' maturation.

Duovir Tablet 60'S inhibits the reverse transcriptase enzyme of DNA polymerase in the cell. It incorporates into viral DNA and stops chain elongation, thus preventing the infection of new cells by HIV.
